NCDA & EU equip journalists with ECD reporting skills
The National Child Development Agency (NCDA) conducted a two-week capacity building session to capacitate journalists with Early Childhood Development (ECD) reporting.
The two-week session was organized in partnership with the European Union (EU) through its financed Tubakuze Project, a three-year project to enhance early childhood development in Rwanda.
It brought together 59 journalists with first phase hosting 30 and second phase 29. The two sessions run from 26th to 29th May and 2nd to 5th June effectively.
The sessions covered different topics around programmes implemented by the NCDA aimed at the development of lives of children.
Speaking at the closing of the first session, the Director General for NCDA, Ingabire Assumpta commended the journalists dedicating time for the session.
She thanked journalists for commitment of putting the best interests of the child during their daily business.
“It is appalling to see children being deprived their rights in a broad light. We always see children being exposed especially in social media platforms, let’s upheld ethics in reporting child cases” she urged
The second session was closed by the Deputy Director General for NCDA, Gilbert Munyemana who reiterated the need to foster partnership with media practitioners in advancing programmes run by NCDA.
“Journalists are powerful agents of change. When they are well-informed, they transform lives through the stories they tell,” he said.
With skills they acquitted from the session, journalists committed to being agents of change in matters related to early childhood development.
