NCDA hails security organs for role in child development programmes
June 22, 2024 - The Director General for National Child Development Agency (NCDA), Ingabire Assumpta has expressed gratitude over different activities done by Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) that will contribute to the development of Rwandan children.
This follows concerted efforts that were pulled together during the "Defence and Security Citizen Outreach Programme 2024” that resulted in construction of 15 Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers across different districts and awarding sectors that outshone in innovation that promote enhance security, promote hygiene and curb malnutrition and stunting among children.
Speaking at the closing of the campaign in Musanze District, DG Ingabire said that security organs play a vital role in child development initiatives especially early childhood.
“Let me use this opportunity to thank security organs for campaign in hygiene, promotion of early childhood in families and child protection. They also partner with us in monitoring of children who have stunted or suffering malnutrition” she said.
The event took place on June 19 2024, was presided over by the Inspector General of Police, CG Felix Namuhoranye.
The closing of the campaign took place across the country and was graced by different senior government officials.
Speaking at the event CG Namuhoranye said that citizens play a big part in attainment of the activities.
“We really thank citizens over the trust and contribution in the realization of those programmes. Partnership between our security organs and citizens has been fundamental in country’s security and development”, he said.
The handover marked the official closing of the three-month CORwanda24 conducted in partnership with the local government under the theme: “30 Years of Liberation: Defence & Security Organs with the Community partnering for Rwanda’s Development.”
The community development activities addressed human security issues in health, environment, public infrastructure, utilities, construction of houses for the disadvantaged family as well as supporting cooperatives of Imboni z'Impinduka (Agents of Change).
During the three-month period, about 72,000 patients received free medical services, including surgeries to over 12,000 people; and support amounting to over Frw96 million to cooperatives of Imboni z'Impinduka (Agents of Change).
Also handed over are five vehicles and 25 motorcycles in sectors and cells, respectively, in recognition of their outstanding performance in security, hygiene and fighting malnutrition.
Best performer sectors that received vehicles are Kimisagara of Nyarugenge District in the City of Kigali; Rurenge of Ngoma District in Eastern Province; Kivumu of Rutsiro District in Western Province; Gasaka of Nyamagabe in Southern Province and Tumba of Rulindo District in Northern Province.
