NCDA, stakeholders discuss nutrition & WASH interventions during NST2

The retreat that took place in Rubavu District brought together stakeholders from government and non-government institutions partnering with NCDA in advancing the growth of children.

Speaking at the retreat, the Director General of NCDA, Ingabire Assumpta highlighted the role of joint planning and called partners for collective efforts in curbing malnutrition and stunting among children.

Ingabire challenged partners to evaluate achievements and the status of malnutrition among children and establish areas of improvement.

“Let us use this opportunity to come with strategic interventions that will help us in stunting reduction. Let’s challenge ourselves whether we are doing the best” she said.

While officiating the opening of the meeting, the Minister of Gender and Family Promotion, Consolee Uwimana recognised the role of government’s stakeholders in promoting nutrition among children, teenagers and pregnant women. She requested them for continued support to attain NST2 target to reduce stunting to 15% by 2029

“To achieve 15% of stunting reduction requires us to employ new measures. Let's use this retreat to brainstorm on extra-ordinary measures to fast-track what we are doing, and refer to milestone attained during NST1” she said.

The government of Rwanda has targeted to reduce stunting from 33% to 15% by 2029.
