Rural women urged on embracing positive parenting
The Director General for the National Child Development Agency (NCDA)l, Ingabire Assumpta has urged rural women to embrace positive parenting which is essential in children’s early years.
She was speaking to parents of Kigali Sector of Nyarugenge District during the celebration of Rural Women’s Day that took place on October 15th 2025.
Reflecting on the vital role of women in shaping the future of children, she urged mothers to fully embrace their parental responsibilities, particularly during their children’s tender years, as this stage lays the foundation for a child’s bright future.
“Toddlers are always catered for by their mothers, that is why I urge you to prioritise nutrition and hygiene if you want them to grow healthy. Positive parenting is key in children’s life, parents especially mothers should take lead” she said
DG Ingabire said that taking children to Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers will help children to receive services including security, health, nutrition, education, brain stimulation and positive parenting.
She added that celebrating rural women’s day it is to reflect on the challenges women face, including balancing parental responsibilities with socio-economic development activities.
She advised parents that the challenges would be mitigated by opting for ECD centers to take care of their children while parents attend to their daily activities.
As part of the celebration, women showcased economic development activities they have ventured in, sharing experiences of how they graduated from poverty.
