THE "CEO FORUM FOR CHILDREN" IN OUR PIPELINE
On Friday, December 10th 2021, the National Child Development Agency (NCDA) joined the Private Sector Federation of Rwanda and UNICEF Rwanda in a consultative meeting on the feasibility setting up a “CEO Forum for Children”.
The objective of the event was to bring together CEOs of leading corporate companies in Rwanda to commit to the establishment of the CEO Forum for Children with the aim to advocate, participate in dialogue, and implement child-friendly policies at their respective areas of businesses while sharing a common voice for children’s rights.
These companies will act as champions of change in scaling up Family Friendly Policies within the Private Sector of Rwanda.
The meeting was an opportunity to share ideas and experiences and members agreed to commit for the establishment of the forum.
The Director General of the NDCA, Mrs. Nadine Umutoni Gatsinzi mentioned some key areas that needs quick collaboration including the establishment of ECD settings in workplace and support Home based ECD to ensure the Universal access to ECD for all children in #Rwanda
The other area is banning all collaboration with private companies, individuals involved in child labour, building a conducive work environment for pregnant women, lactating mothers and facilitating men with babies to assist mothers in childcare, create Children fund within the companies and the communities they work with to support children with special needs in the communities you are working in, leading discussions on challenges facing children in and around their areas of operation and influence on finding solutions
She also called for corporate social responsibility and cooperation in their areas of expertise to find innovative ways of solving issues that children are facing in Rwanda.
